Position Summary:
As a Design Engineer, you will work as part of the Engineering Team to create drawings and supporting documentation to facilitate the design and development of heat transfer technologies. Your deliverables will include development concept design, feature development, product architecture, and system validation through to manufacturing release for laser welded tank and pressure vessel components, immersion plate heat exchangers, clamp-on heat exchangers, ice banks, and falling film chillers.
Education/Experience:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and / or Engineering Technology
5+ years of engineering experience
Position Responsibilities:
Create drawing layouts for customer approval and detailed shop fabrication drawings
Design products to meet customer heat transfer, pressure drop, and structural requirements
Define part numbers, part descriptions, and fabrication operations in both the PDM and ERP system
Perform ASME calculations and create ASME shop travelers
Work in a team environment – assisting manufacturing, purchasing, and sales
Assist manufacturing regarding the laser cutting, laser-welding, and fabrication of products
Work with manufacturing to improve workflow and optimize processes
Design and development of new products
Ensures work areas are clean and orderly
Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Qualifications:
Knowledgeable and skilled with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Knowledge regarding design and operation of heat exchangers and fluid flow components
Familiarity with basics of Heating, Ventilation, and Air-conditioning (HVAC) concepts
Have effective communication (oral and written) and analytical skills with the ability to take direction and work under limited supervision
Ability to work on multiple projects/assignments, multi-task, and be able to adjust for changes in customer job priorities
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of sheet metal fabricating and processing
Knowledge of stainless steel vessel design and fabrication
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1
Registered PE in the State of Wisconsin
Proficiency in MS Office products such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
Experience with SOLIDWORKS DriveWorks and SOLIDWORKS PDM
