R&D FEA to Optimize Jacket Design
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

Omega Thermo Products is using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to optimize the performance of their laser welded heat transfer jackets for tank shells and heads. Omega uses FEA to simulate the inflation pressure of the jacket while adjusting weld patterns to maximize internal volume and minimize any deformation of the vessel shell (double-embossing). This design assures a low pressure drop through the jacket while maintaining optimal heat transfer.

Using FEA greatly reduces the trial and error method of testing new weld patterns, especially critical to Omega as customers require thinner/economical tank components to maintain a competitive tank offering.
